The Offices of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) and the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), under the Ministry of Textiles, jointly implement the Urban Haat programme. Financial assistance is provided under the respective National Handicrafts Development Programme and National Handloom Development Programme for setting up these facilities. The primary objective is to facilitate direct marketing of handicrafts and handloom products by artisans and weavers, eliminating intermediaries. As of the latest update, a total of 28 Urban Haats are operational across the country. A state-wise breakdown shows that three of these operational Urban Haats are located in Rajasthan. This status information was officially provided by the Minister of State for Textiles, Shri Pabitra Margherita, in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha on July 24, 2026.
