The Ministry of Tourism is preparing to implement Special Campaign 6.0 from October 2 to October 31, 2026, as part of the Government of India's initiative focusing on Swachhata (cleanliness) and reducing pendency across government offices. This year's campaign places special emphasis on the effective collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste.
The campaign will be implemented across Ministries/Departments, their attached and subordinate offices, Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, with particular focus on field and outstation offices that provide public services. The campaign follows a two-phase approach: a Preparatory Phase from September 15 to September 30, 2026, followed by the Implementation Phase from October 2 to October 31, 2026.
Preparatory activities include mobilizing offices, officers, and ground functionaries; identifying pending references and cleanliness campaign sites; assessing redundant material for disposal; planning efficient space management; scrap disposal; record management; and identifying measures for effective e-waste collection and segregation. The Ministry convened a preparatory meeting on September 16, 2026, with its Programme Divisions, Institutes, and Domestic Offices to identify implementation targets.
The Ministry reported significant achievements from Special Campaign 5.0, including 92,749 square feet of space freed, ₹12.69 lakh earned through scrap disposal, 4,700 physical files weeded out, and 1,100 electronic files closed. Additionally, 413 Swachhata Campaign programmes were conducted across the country during the previous campaign. Building on these achievements, the Ministry remains committed to strengthening cleanliness, efficient record management, and reduction of pendency across its offices through Special Campaign 6.0.
