The Ministry of Tribal Affairs organized a two-day National Conclave on 'Constitutional Rights and Legal Provisions for Tribal Communities' from October 6th to 7th, 2026, at Scope Complex in Delhi. The event was inaugurated by Shri Jual Oram, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, and involved participation from more than 75 delegates representing approximately 30 states and union territories.
The conclave aimed to bring together senior officers from tribal welfare and revenue departments along with experts to identify challenges faced by tribal communities in accessing their constitutional rights. The discussions focused on developing recommendations and course correction measures to improve implementation of constitutional safeguards.
Key focus areas highlighted by officials included the need for digitization of records, streamlined documentation processes, online tracking systems, effective grievance redressal mechanisms, and stronger inter-State verification systems. Shri Durgadas Uikey, Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, emphasized the importance of simple, transparent, time-bound, and citizen-friendly processes while maintaining safeguards against fraudulent claims.
The deliberations are expected to contribute toward strengthening the implementation of constitutional safeguards and promoting more effective, transparent, and accessible protection and services for tribal communities across India.
