The Ministry of Women and Child Development will host a Departmental Summit on October 8-9, 2026 at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi. This is the second in a series of summits envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strengthen cooperative federalism and accelerate outcomes through Centre-State collaboration. The summit aims to bring together political leadership and senior officials from Union and State Governments to deliberate on sectoral priorities, share good practices, address implementation challenges, and agree on time-bound actions for improved governance and service delivery.
The two-day summit will focus on four key themes: reimagining Anganwadi Centres for better nutrition and early education, strengthening protection systems for vulnerable children, ensuring women's safety through effective implementation of institutional and legislative frameworks, and enhancing women empowerment through improved scheme outcomes. First-day discussions will cover specific topics including quality of Take-Home Ration and Hot Cooked Meals, Poshan Tracker data quality improvement, Early Childhood Care and Education, protection systems for vulnerable children including social media impact, and implementation challenges for women safety. The second day will be devoted to enhancing effectiveness and outcomes of key women empowerment schemes.
Participating States will share their experiences, challenges, and best practices, aiming to arrive at consensus on agreed outcomes. The key outcomes and action plans will be presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the valedictory session, with the expectation that his guidance will galvanize collective resolve and set the course for decisive, time-bound action on the agreed outcomes. The summit supports the vision of creating a Suposhit, Surakshit and Sashakt Bharat as the foundation for Viksit Bharat@2047.
