The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment provided financial assistance of ₹10.27 lakh to Telu Jhansi Vijay Krishna, a 25-year-old MBA student from Karnataka belonging to the NC-OBC community, under the Top-Class Education in College for OBC, EBC and DNT Students scheme on April 23, 2026. The scholarship was awarded to help overcome financial constraints that were preventing the student from pursuing quality higher education despite coming from a family that valued education but faced financial limitations.
The assistance substantially reduced the financial burden associated with his education, cutting nearly 50% of his educational loan burden according to Vijay Krishna's own assessment. This provided much-needed financial relief and reduced stress associated with managing higher education costs. The support enabled him to focus more confidently on his MBA studies and professional development while working toward his long-term career aspirations of contributing to India's social and economic development through business and startups.
Vijay Krishna expressed gratitude to the Government of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the financial assistance that helped him continue his higher education with greater confidence and focus. The case illustrates how targeted educational support through the Top-Class Education scheme helps students from OBC, EBC and DNT communities overcome financial barriers to pursue professional education and contribute to India's socio-economic development.
