The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas has released the Draft Petroleum (Amendment) Bill, 2026 for stakeholder and public consultation as part of pre-legislative process. The draft bill along with an explanatory note was hosted on the Ministry's website on September 30, 2026. Stakeholders and members of the public are invited to submit comments and suggestions to the Under Secretary (Distribution) at Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Kartavya Bhawan-03, New Delhi-110001 or via email at sodist-png[at]gov[dot]in and richa.86[at]nic[dot]in. The deadline for submission of comments is October 30, 2026. All inputs received during the consultation process will be duly examined before finalizing the amendments to the Petroleum Act.
