Ministry Reports 3.78 Million Senior Citizens Benefited in 5 Years

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment reported that 3.78 million senior citizens benefited from the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY) over the last five financial years (FY 2020-21 to 2024-25).
Under the National Social Assistance Programme, Rs. 32,409 crore was disbursed in old-age pensions over five years, with monthly payments of ₹200 for ages 60-79 and ₹500 for those 80+.
The Integrated Programme for Senior Citizens (IPSrC) disbursed ₹532.45 crore over five years, providing recurring and non-recurring grants for senior citizen homes across city categories.
