Ministry of WCD introduced Face Recognition System (FRS) in Poshan Tracker for beneficiary verification, piloted in 6 states/UTs in August 2024.
FRS was rolled out pan-India in December 2024, identifying 47.79 million beneficiaries for THR distribution via the system.
As of February 2026, 97.01% of identified beneficiaries completed e-KYC and face matching, ensuring targeted nutrition delivery.
The ministry implemented six data privacy measures including encryption and annual security audits by Cert-In empanelled agencies.
