The Ministry of Women and Child Development provided an update on the Mission Shakti scheme's One Stop Centres (OSCs), which offer integrated support services to women affected by violence and those in distress. These centres provide counselling, temporary shelter, medical and legal support, accessibility for persons with disabilities, and dedicated vehicles with scheme branding, requiring convergence with Police, Health Department, and District Legal Services Authority.
Since the scheme's inception on April 1, 2015, through June 30, 2026, 1,033 OSCs have been administratively approved across India, with 991 currently operational. These centres have assisted over 15.20 lakh women nationwide. In Uttar Pradesh specifically, 124 OSCs are operational and have assisted 3.42 lakh women, with the Mainpuri district centre functioning from a dedicated government building meeting prescribed standards.
Mission Shakti operates as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme with implementation responsibility lying with State Governments and UT Administrations. The Central Government provides financial assistance to states and UTs for adequate staff and infrastructure support to ensure smooth OSC operations. Monitoring includes regular inspections and performance assessments by state government officials, with prompt rectification of deficiencies identified during inspections.
The Programme Approval Board (PAB) conducts annual monitoring with states and UTs to review progress, achievement of objectives, and effective service delivery to women and children. Additionally, ministry officials continuously review the scheme through meetings, video conferences, and field visits. The ministry has developed a Mission Shakti Dashboard that enables real-time tracking of scheme functioning at district, state, and national levels.
The Ministry of Women and Child Development, along with State Governments and UT administrations, continues to work on strengthening the growing demand, visibility, and timely support to beneficiaries under Mission Shakti.
