The Ministry of Women and Child Development held a consultative committee meeting chaired by Union Minister Smt. Annpurna Devi to review three key components of Mission Shakti. The meeting reported that 991 functional One Stop Centres (OSCs) have assisted over 15.20 lakh women affected by violence across the country, providing integrated services including medical aid, free legal assistance, police liaison, psycho-social counselling, and temporary shelter of up to 20 days. These OSCs are funded under the Nirbhaya Fund and are located near government hospitals with dedicated 24x7 rescue vehicles.
Under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), more than ₹21,343 crore has been disbursed to over 4.60 crore mothers for maternity benefits. The scheme provides ₹5,000 for the first child in two instalments and ₹6,000 for the second child if it's a girl. Recent reforms include mandatory Aadhaar-based biometric authentication since May 21, 2025, which has enrolled 64.65 lakh beneficiaries, and a 'Due List' initiative that has onboarded 36.42 lakh beneficiaries through doorstep registration by Anganwadi and ASHA workers.
The SANKALP: Hubs for Empowerment of Women component has 36 State and 765 District hubs functional across states and UTs, serving as single-window systems for women to access information about schemes and entitlements. Mission Shakti operates through two sub-schemes: 'Sambal' (100% centrally funded) covering OSCs, Women Helpline, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Nari Adalat, and 'Samarthya' (60:40 center-state funding ratio, 90:10 for NE and special category states) covering HEWs, PMMVY, Shakti Sadan, Sakhi Niwas and Palna. The ministry has implemented an integrated grievance redressal system requiring resolution within 14 days, with over 87% of more than one lakh grievances resolved, and a Mission Shakti Dashboard for real-time monitoring with geo-tagging and integration with PM GatiShakti portal.
