The Ministry of Rural Development has approved 45 new road works under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV (PMGSY-IV) Batch–1 for FY 2026-27 in Mizoram. The approved projects cover 509.54 kilometers of road construction with a total estimated cost of ₹710.40 crore. These infrastructure projects will provide all-weather road connectivity to 48 habitations for the first time, enabling access to essential services including schools, hospitals, and rural markets. The development is expected to contribute significantly to the social and economic development of the affected areas and supports the government's Viksit Bharat (Developed India) vision.
In addition to these new approvals, Mizoram currently has 367 road works covering 4,935 kilometers and 7 bridge projects already sanctioned under PMGSY, representing a total investment of ₹3,412 crore in rural connectivity infrastructure. The announcement was made on October 31, 2026, as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
