The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has commenced the preparatory phase of Special Campaign 6, an initiative launched by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) to institutionalize Swachhata (cleanliness) and minimize pendency in government offices. The campaign involves MNRE along with its two Central Public Sector Undertakings - Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) and Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI) - and three Autonomous Institutes: National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE), and Sardar Swarn Singh National Institute of Bio Energy (SSS-NIBE).
The implementation phase will run from October 2, 2026, to October 31, 2026, during which targeted efforts will be made to achieve objectives identified in the preparatory phase. Current activities include identification and disposal of pendency under various parameters, review and categorization of physical records for weeding out as per existing guidelines, cleanliness campaigns across all participating entities, and identification and segregation of e-waste according to MoEFCC guidelines for target setting during implementation.
The campaign builds on previous success, as MNRE and its organizations actively participated in Special Campaign 5 last year, achieving substantial progress across multiple areas. During the previous campaign, 725 targeted e-files were reviewed, significant progress was made in disposing of references from Members of Parliament, and 8 out of 9 targeted cleanliness campaigns were conducted, contributing to improved workplace efficiency and cleanliness. This year's campaign places special emphasis on effective collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste alongside ongoing cleanliness drives and pendency reduction efforts.
