Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will launch the "Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan" on 2 August 2026 as a nationwide mass movement against substance abuse. The campaign represents a 100-week Jan Bhagidari movement calling upon youth to lead the fight against drugs through community engagement and public participation.
On launch day, nearly 10,000 locations across the country will organize simultaneous pledge ceremonies with participation from more than one crore youth taking the Nasha Mukti Pledge. The campaign has unprecedented participation from MY Bharat Volunteers, National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers, Youth Clubs, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, industrial associations, and over 125 spiritual organizations.
The campaign is structured as a sustained 100-week movement with youth-led activities organized every Sunday across the country. Weekly activities will include sports competitions, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, art and creative competitions, nukkad nataks (street plays), and awareness drives aimed at sensitizing society about the harmful effects of substance abuse while promoting healthy lifestyles and positive social values.
To encourage sustained participation, volunteers and organizations making outstanding contributions will be honored at the 50th, 75th, and 100th week milestones. Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports Sh. Mansukh Mandaviya has appealed to young people and social organizations across the country to join the Prime Minister's call and become active participants in this historic movement. The campaign aims to create a nationwide social movement that inspires individuals to reject substance abuse and contribute towards building a healthier, stronger, and more developed India as part of the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
