The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) commenced the Implementation Phase of Special Campaign 6 on October 2, 2026, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti. The campaign focuses on institutionalizing Swachhata (cleanliness) and minimizing pendency across all subordinate offices, autonomous organisations, regional offices, and field offices, with particular emphasis on offices having public interface or providing public services.

The campaign promotes sustained behavioral change inspired by Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), emphasizing energy and water conservation, elimination of single-use plastics, promotion of sustainable food systems, waste and e-waste reduction, and adoption of environmentally responsible lifestyles. Conducted in accordance with DARPG guidelines, this year's campaign specifically focuses on effective collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste, along with cleanliness of campaign sites, disposal of pending matters, records management, space management, process simplification, and disposal of redundant items and furniture.

MoEFCC has established comprehensive targets across multiple parameters: 132 cleanliness campaign sites, 37 Member of Parliament references, 16 parliamentary assurances, 4 state government references, 445 public grievances, 96 public grievance appeals, 2 PMO references, 12,234 physical files for review, and 14,164 e-files for review.

For e-waste management, the ministry has identified specific category-wise targets: 1,425 Information Technology and Telecommunication Equipment items, 1,058 Consumer Electrical and Electronics and Photovoltaic Panels, 333 Large and Small Electrical and Electronic Equipment items, 42 Electrical and Electronic Tools, 13 Toys, Leisure and Sports Equipment items, 3 Medical Devices, 23 Laboratory Instruments, and 374 items in the Other category. All identified e-waste will be processed according to applicable Rules and the SOP finalized by DARPG.

Nodal Officers have been designated to coordinate and monitor activities, ensure timely reporting, and facilitate achievement of the identified targets. Progress monitoring will occur through the Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters (SCDPM) Portal of DARPG, with regular updates during the Implementation Phase.
