The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) celebrated the 11th Ayurveda Day on September 23, 2026, at Sankalp Bhawan in New Delhi, aligning with nationwide celebrations led by the Ministry of Ayush. The event was organized under the focal theme "Ayurveda for a Healthier Tomorrow," with emphasis on preventive healthcare, wellness, and sustainable lifestyle practices.

MoHUA organized a specialized seminar, discourse, and interactive session featuring several expert speakers. Shri R.K. Tiwary, ADG of Urban Health Services at MoHUA, delivered a brief lecture around the theme. Dr. Ramavtar Sharma, Associate Professor & Head of Department of Swathavritta at All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi, delivered an expert lecture on scientific pathways for prevention, integration, community wellbeing, and One Health. Dr. Ashish Kumar Tripathi, Domain Expert and Editor from the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences, Ministry of Ayush, presented on medicinal plants and Ayurveda.

The session highlighted a critical shift from episodic treatment to prevention-led, whole-system health in view of the changing global health landscape. Speakers emphasized that lifestyle-linked conditions and mind-body stress are core determinants of modern health, advocating that future healthcare must proactively protect community wellbeing. Dr. Sharma detailed practical self-care modules including Workplace Yoga, posture correction, eye-breaks, and movement protocols that can be embedded into daily office routines to improve adherence, vitality, and functional productivity.

Dr. Tripathi expanded on "Nature's Pharmacy: Tradition, Science and Healing," introducing the audience to therapeutic potentials of medicinal plants and detailing the scientific dynamics of daily wellness protocols (Dinacharya) and seasonal adaptations (Ritucharya) required to balance metabolic health and build long-term respiratory and immune resilience against modern environmental stress. During the interactive session, ministry officials engaged with experts on adopting these scalable preventive strategies into urban administrative frameworks.
