The National Statistical Systems Training Academy (NSSTA) under the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation released the 121st issue of Sarvekshana, its premier bi-annual Journal of Official Statistics, on October 14, 2026. This journal serves as a prominent platform for disseminating research based on data from the National Sample Survey and other official statistics, recognized for academic rigor and policy relevance.
The current issue features three technical papers that underwent rigorous peer-review and editorial processes. The first paper examines the impact of in-kind social transfers on the level of living of Indian households. The second paper analyzes the role of factory size in efficiency using data from the Annual Survey of Industries 2022-23. The third paper studies the effect of adopting PPS circular systematic sampling in the Annual Survey of Industries through simulation methods.
Additionally, the issue presents highlights from two major surveys conducted by the NSS: the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) 2025, covering January-December 2025, and the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) 2025, also covering January-December 2025. These highlights provide key insights into the unincorporated sector and labor market trends.
The journal is circulated among researchers, data users, Ministries/Departments, and reputed national and international institutions. It can be accessed through the websites www.mospi.gov.in and www.nssta.gov.in. Through this publication, NSSTA aims to foster research in official statistics, encourage wider application of statistical data, and strengthen analytical foundations for evidence-based policymaking.
