Union Minister of State for MSME Sushri Shobha Karandlaje inaugurated the Technology Centre at Devanahalli, Bengaluru, Karnataka on September 10, 2026. The centre, developed by the Ministry of MSME with an investment of ₹156 crore on a 10-acre land parcel provided by the Government of Karnataka, will focus on Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) as its core sector.
The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art machines and labs including Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) Line, additive manufacturing, CNC 5 Axis and 3 Axis machines, and Electric Discharge Machine (EDM). It will train approximately 10,000 trainees annually, providing them with advanced technical skills and industry-oriented training. The centre will serve as a hub for manufacturing, training, and nurturing young talent while providing MSMEs access to advanced technologies.
During the inauguration, Minister Karandlaje announced that another Technology Centre is coming up in Belagaum, Karnataka at a cost of ₹178 crore. She emphasized the Ministry's focus on enabling students to develop skills contributing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat, noting that the MSME sector is the second largest contributor to the Indian economy after agriculture.
MSME Secretary Bharat Khera highlighted recent amendments to the MSMED Act, 2026 designed to benefit MSMEs, while Additional Secretary Dr. Rajneesh outlined the sector's significant economic contribution—over 9.4 crore registered MSMEs contributing 31% to the Indian economy and generating employment for over 41.6 crore people. He described MSMEs as "engines of growth" and highlighted Ministry initiatives including TReDS and the Credit Guarantee Scheme.
The Technology Centre will provide advanced design, prototyping, production, training, and consultancy services to strengthen the MSME ecosystem in electronics and aerospace sectors, generating employment and nurturing skilled talent across Karnataka and India.
