The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has achieved significant milestones through its Udyam Registration Portal and Udyam Assist Platform, two digital initiatives that are formalizing enterprises and expanding access to government support. These platforms have registered over 8.9 crore enterprises that collectively provide employment to over 38 crore people across India, representing a major transformation in India's entrepreneurial landscape.

The Udyam Registration Portal provides official identity to MSMEs through a simple, paperless, self-declaration-based online process that is completely free of cost. The registration process involves six steps: visiting the portal, entering Aadhaar details of the proprietor/partner/authorized signatory, validating PAN details, filling enterprise details (business name, address, bank details, business activities), submitting through self-declaration, and receiving an e-Certificate with unique Udyam Registration Number instantly upon verification.

The Udyam Assist Platform complements this initiative by bringing informal micro enterprises into the formal economy, specifically targeting those without GST registration or Income Tax coverage. Authorized partners including banks, NBFCs, and other lending institutions help these enterprises obtain formal recognition as Udyam Assist Certificate holders through verified data submission.

Registered MSMEs gain access to numerous benefits including eligibility for various Ministry schemes covering finance, technology upgradation, quality certification, skill development, market access, and entrepreneurship promotion. They receive easier access to institutional credit through established formal identity, protection against delayed payments through the MSME Online Dispute Resolution Portal that enables end-to-end online dispute resolution, participation in government procurement opportunities, access to quality and technology support for certification, upgradation, lean manufacturing, digitalization and productivity enhancement, and market promotion through domestic and international exhibitions, trade fairs, and buyer-seller meets.

These initiatives are specifically empowering women entrepreneurs, SC/ST entrepreneurs, rural enterprises, traditional artisans, first-generation entrepreneurs, and youth-led start-ups by making government support more accessible and inclusive. The platforms are contributing significantly to the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 by transforming entrepreneurial aspirations into successful enterprises.
