MY Bharat–NSS Conducts Nationwide "My Health, My Pride" Activities

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through the National Service Scheme (NSS), conducted nationwide "My Health, My Pride" activities on September 25, 2026, under the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – 100 Week Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan. The campaign focused on promoting health, nutrition, wellness and awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse among young people.

Participation and Reach

The initiative was conducted across 167 educational institutions and their adopted villages, achieving a consolidated participation of 1,75,368 individuals. The campaign integrated health screenings, expert-led awareness sessions, and substance-abuse prevention activities to engage youth nationwide.

Health Interventions

A total of 48,556 youth in the 15–18 years age group received comprehensive health check-ups and BMI assessments. These interventions were conducted in coordination with District Health Authorities and medical officers under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), providing participants with understanding of regular health monitoring and informed lifestyle choices.

Expert-Led Awareness Sessions

Two major awareness sessions formed core components of the program. The session on "Importance of Nutrition & Good Health" engaged 64,938 participants, featuring medical experts and doctors discussing nutrition, wellness and healthy living. A separate session on the "Impact of Addiction on Good Health" reached 61,874 participants, focusing specifically on the adverse health effects of substance abuse.

Substance-Free Commitment

The de-addiction awareness component resulted in approximately 62,000 young people taking the Substance-Free Pledge, reinforcing the campaign's prevention focus and promoting informed choices among youth participants.

Participation Demographics and Leadership Involvement

The program witnessed significant involvement from local leaders, dignitaries and medical professionals, with 95 institutions hosting such experts and public representatives to inaugurate camps and interact with participants. Female youth accounted for 53.0% of participation in Nutrition & Health sessions and 52.6% in De-Addiction sessions, demonstrating substantial gender-inclusive engagement.

Campaign Framework and Structure

The activities operate under the Prevent pillar of the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat campaign, combining health interventions with awareness and prevention messaging. The initiative is part of a broader 100-week framework structured around four pillars—Prevent, Protect, Recover and Lead—with the first activity cycle focusing on three themes: My Health, My Pride; Fit Youth, Addiction-Free Youth; and Life Skills Month.

Regional Adaptability

The campaign demonstrated flexibility to local circumstances, with activities temporarily deferred in some regions due to regional observances and adverse weather conditions. Specifically affected were Anant Chaturdashi in Bihar and Jharkhand, Ganesh Visarjan in Maharashtra and Goa, and severe cyclonic conditions affecting six institutions in Andhra Pradesh. These activities will be rescheduled in the affected regions.
