The Ministry of Electronics & IT provided an update on the MyGov citizen engagement platform, highlighting significant growth in user participation and policy consultations. The platform has registered 6.32 crore total citizens as of July 10, 2026, with 4.48 crore new registrations occurring in the last five years (July 11, 2021 to July 10, 2026).
MyGov has facilitated extensive citizen participation through multiple engagement formats, hosting 180 discussions with 7,77,068 citizen participants, 15 polls with 30,39,127 participants, and 56 surveys with 3,57,431 participants over the last five years. The platform serves as a facilitative mechanism where various Ministries and Departments propose consultations, and after conclusion, compiled opinions and suggestions are shared with the concerned ministry/department for consideration during policy formulation or review.
Key recent public consultations included the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020, Digital Personal Data Protection Bill-2022, Draft Digital Personal Data Protection Rules-2025, Union Budget Consultations, Draft Amendments to the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance Rules-2020, Reforms in the Examination Process (National Testing Agency), Draft Data Centre Policy-2020, Draft New Textiles Policy-2020, and Memorandum for the 8th Central Pay Commission. The final acceptance and incorporation of citizen suggestions into government policies remains the prerogative of the respective Ministries and Departments.
Third-party Impact Assessment studies conducted in 2017 and 2025 concluded that MyGov has significantly expanded public participation scope. Based on recommendations to improve inclusivity, the platform has implemented multilingual support in 12 languages (English and 11 Indian regional languages), launched a dedicated mobile application, strengthened digital and social media outreach, and periodically updated the web interface for enhanced user experience. MyGov compiles citizen feedback and forwards it to concerned ministries/departments for necessary action, while platform-specific feedback is periodically reviewed to maintain robust government-public connectivity.
