The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, through the National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC), is implementing the BHARAT TULIP (Traditional Artisans' Upliftment Livelihood Programme) to strengthen livelihoods of traditional artisans by expanding market access through digital platforms. Launched on November 5, 2024, the programme specifically targets artisans from eligible backward classes and aims to connect them with wider domestic and international markets while preserving India's cultural heritage.
The initiative brands traditional products under the BHARAT TULIP umbrella to enhance visibility and facilitate online sales through e-commerce channels. The programme addresses market-access challenges by providing digital marketing support, quality assurance, skill development, and logistics assistance to help artisans respond to changing market requirements. Additionally, it facilitates artisan participation in exhibitions, trade fairs, and buyer-seller interactions to build market connections and explore new business opportunities.
BHARAT TULIP showcases a diverse range of traditional products including home décor and lifestyle products, handcrafted jewellery, handwoven textiles and fabrics, and traditional leather products. The programme serves both as a market access initiative and a preservation effort for India's diverse artistic heritage. Retailers, institutional buyers, and consumers can access these products through the programme's online channels and promotional activities via the official NBCFDC TULIP website at https://nbcfdc.gov.in/nbcfdc/web/tulip.
