The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), a statutory body under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, conducted a special "Pan-India Rescue and Rehabilitation" Campaign from June 12 to August 31, 2026. The campaign focused on intensified identification, rescue, and rehabilitation of children engaged in child labour and those vulnerable to trafficking and exploitation. NCPCR coordinated with State Governments/UT Administrations, District Magistrates, Labour Departments, Police authorities, and other stakeholders to execute rescue operations at child labour and trafficking hotspots.
Through sustained monitoring and proactive measures, the campaign successfully rescued over 3,800 children and registered more than 575 FIRs. NCPCR conducted regular meetings with District Administrations to review rescue operations, address operational bottlenecks, ensure timely submission of Action Taken Reports (ATRs), and strengthen inter-departmental coordination. The commission also undertook awareness and outreach activities through social media and other communication platforms to disseminate information about the campaign, reporting mechanisms for child labour, and the importance of rehabilitation and educational mainstreaming following rescue operations.
