National Career Service Portal Performance Metrics
The Ministry of Labour & Employment's National Career Service (NCS) Portal has achieved significant scale since its inception, serving as a comprehensive digital platform for employment-related services. The portal has registered more than 6.64 crore jobseekers cumulatively, with 2.89 crore remaining active as of July 15, 2026. Vacancy mobilization has reached 10.05 crore total vacancies, with 17.68 lakh active vacancies available on the platform as of the same date.
Technological Enhancements and Features
The NCS Portal has undergone substantial technological upgrades, transitioning to a cloud-based, open-architecture platform with continuous improvement processes. Key enhancements include integration with various public and private job and skill portals, AI-powered features such as intelligent job matching, AI skill gap analysis, personalized job recommendations, AI interview coach, and multilingual support through Bhasini integration. The platform also offers cloud-based applications for jobseekers and employers, robust verification mechanisms, and a dedicated mobile application to improve accessibility and user experience.
Strategic Partnerships and Integrations
The Ministry has strengthened public-private partnerships through more than 40 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with private and public employers, portals, and platforms. Notable private partners include APNA, Swiggy, Rapido, Zomato, Amazon, TCS iON, Quikr, and FoundIt (Monster), offering facilities such as job fairs listing, skill development programmes, and career counselling. The portal is also integrated with key government systems including Udyam, eShram, Skill India Digital Hub, EPFO, ESIC, MHRD, and DigiLocker, and has linkages with major government recruitment bodies like Union Public Service Commission, Staff Selection Commission, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board, and Railway Recruitment Boards.
Physical Infrastructure and Geographic Coverage
The NCS project has established 407 Model Career Centres (MCCs), which include 370 upgraded Employment Exchanges, delivering career-related services through online/offline job fairs, employer mobilization, and career counselling at local levels. Geographic coverage extends to 31 States/UTs integrated with the NCS portal, including 8 States/UTs that directly use the NCS Portal for their employment services.
The government conducts systematic reviews and evaluations of all schemes and programmes before each Finance Commission cycle to ensure continued relevance and effectiveness. This information was formally presented by Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in a written reply to the Lok Sabha on August 3, 2026.
