NITI Aayog actively participated in the Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign 2026 organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti from September 17 to October 2, 2026. The campaign was organized to celebrate 12 years of Swachh Bharat Mission and reaffirm commitment to make India clean and garbage free, with the theme "Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat".
NITI Aayog conducted several activities during the campaign period, including an inspection of the Record Room on September 24, 2026 by senior officers with emphasis on file reviewing, weeding out and digitization of old records, and disposal of scrap. Awareness campaigns were implemented through banners and standees installed across NITI Aayog gates, outdoor areas, and office premises, with campaign banners also displayed on the NITI Aayog website homepage for the duration of the campaign.
A cleanliness drive was conducted in NITI Aayog office premises on all floors from September 24 to September 30, 2026 with active staff participation. The Welfare Team undertook deep cleaning of the NITI Aayog Departmental Canteen Hall and Kitchen during the same period. On October 1, 2026, observing the nationwide Shramdaan campaign "Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath," Vice Chairman Ashok Kumar Lahiri administered the Swachhta Pledge to NITI Aayog staff, followed by a cleanliness drive across the outdoor campus in the presence of NITI Aayog Members and officials.
