Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Shri Piyush Goyal will lead a high-level Indian business delegation to Spain, Belgium, and Finland from July 13 to 17, 2026, to strengthen economic partnerships with Europe. The visit focuses on advancing trade, investment, technology collaboration, innovation, and sustainability, with particular emphasis on leveraging opportunities from the proposed India-European Union Free Trade Agreement.
Delegation Composition and Sector Focus
The delegation comprises leading Indian companies from advanced manufacturing, clean energy, digital technologies, gems and jewellery, food processing, healthcare, and design sectors. Specific companies participating include Borosil Renewables, Motherson Group, Trivitron Healthcare, Hari Krishna Exports, and Nekkanti Seafoods.
Spain Engagement (July 13)
In Spain, Shri Goyal will hold bilateral meetings with H.E. Mr. Carlos Cuerpo Caballero (First Vice President and Minister of Economy, Trade and Business), H.E. Mr. Jordi Hereu Boher (Minister of Industry and Tourism), and H.E. Mr. José Manuel Albares Bueno (Minister of Foreign Affairs). He will chair an India-Spain Business Roundtable with Spanish companies and industry associations, and participate in another roundtable with the Chamber of Commerce of Spain, CEOE and ICEX Spain Trade & Investment. The sessions will explore opportunities in automotive, renewable energy, railways, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, food processing, and tourism. The visit coincides with the Spain-India Dual Year 2026, commemorating 70 years of diplomatic relations. Spanish companies with significant Indian presence include Iberdrola, Acciona, CAF, Talgo, Gestamp, and Indra, while Indian companies expanding in Spain include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, and L&T.
Belgium Engagement (July 14-15)
In Belgium, Shri Goyal will undertake site visits to the Port of Antwerp (Europe's leading logistics hub) to study multimodal connectivity, green logistics, and resilient supply chains, and to the Antwerp World Diamond Centre to explore the global diamond value chain, certification, and responsible sourcing opportunities for India's gems and jewellery sector. He will hold CEO-level meetings with Mr. Alain Queverin of Thales Group (aerospace, defense, cybersecurity, digital identity) and Mr. Jean-Christophe Bogaert of Silox Group (specialty chemicals, recycling with operations in Gujarat). The India-EU Business Roundtable and Trade and Technology Council (TTC) Plenary will focus on foreign direct investment, trade facilitation, sustainable technologies, and supply chains. Shri Goyal will co-chair the 3rd India-EU TTC Ministerial Meeting alongside India's External Affairs Minister and Minister of State for Electronics & IT. He is expected to meet with the President of the European Commission, President of the European Council, Prime Minister of Belgium, H.E. Mr. David Clarinval (Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium), and H.E. Mr. Maroš Šefčovič (European Commissioner for Trade).
Finland Engagement (July 16-17)
In Finland, at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Finland, the visit will focus on innovation, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, digital technologies, and industrial research. Shri Goyal will meet with H.E. Dr. Sakari Puisto (Minister of Economic Affairs) and participate in the India-Finland Business Roundtable with companies in digitalisation, clean energy, advanced manufacturing, and circular economy. An MoU between CII and Business Finland will be signed to strengthen institutional collaboration. Site visits include Nokia Corporation (telecom infrastructure, 6G research), VTT Research Centre, KONE Corporation (smart mobility), and Kemppi Group (advanced manufacturing, EV charging infrastructure).
