PM JANMAN Tribal Development Scheme Progress Report

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs provided a comprehensive progress report on the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN) as of June 30, 2026. The scheme aims to provide basic facilities to improve socio-economic conditions for 75 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) communities residing in 18 States and one Union Territory, including safe housing, clean drinking water, improved access to education, health and nutrition, road and telecom connectivity, electrification of unelectrified households, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Implementation Progress Across Ministries

The objectives are being met through 11 interventions implemented by 9 line Ministries. The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) has sanctioned 482,554 houses under PMAY-G with 305,860 completed, and sanctioned 7,991.93 km of roads under PMGSY with 2,948 km completed. The Ministry of Jal Shakti (MoJS) has sanctioned 18,756 villages under JJM with 8,799 villages saturated. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has 831 MMUs sanctioned and operational.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) has sanctioned 2,498 AWCs under POSHAN 2.0 with 2,241 operational. The Ministry of Education (MoE) has sanctioned 500 facilities under SSA with 19 work completed. The Ministry of Power (MoP) under RDSS has sanctioned 146,291 households for electrification with 135,209 electrified. MNRE has sanctioned 8,852 households for electrification with 7,447 electrified.

The Ministry of Communications (DoT-USOF) has planned 4,347 habitations for telecom coverage with 3,198 covered. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) has sanctioned 1,000 Multipurpose Centers (MPCs) with 692 completed, and sanctioned 540 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) with 491 businesses started.

State-wise Performance Highlights

Madhya Pradesh shows the highest activity with 189,574 houses sanctioned (145,251 completed), 2,221.76 km roads sanctioned (755 km completed), and 30,216 households sanctioned for electrification under RDSS. Andhra Pradesh follows with 43,593 houses sanctioned (9,655 completed) and 25,253 households electrified under RDSS. Chhattisgarh has 33,847 houses sanctioned (22,907 completed) and 2,901.95 km roads sanctioned (1,796 km completed).

PVTG Population Data

Based on habitation-level data collection through PM Gati Shakti mobile application, the survey identified 1,236,625 PVTG households with a total population of 4,852,361 across 19 states/UTs. Madhya Pradesh has the highest PVTG population at 1,385,266 across 367,273 households, followed by Maharashtra with 674,918 across 165,542 households, and Andhra Pradesh with 522,285 across 150,816 households.

The actual number of beneficiaries to be covered under the abhiyan is subject to eligibility criteria of specific guidelines of concerned interventions as per approved norms. The data represents progress as per information provided by the concerned Ministries/Department.
