The Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) was launched on November 15, 2023, by the Prime Minister for socio-economic development of 75 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) communities across 18 states and one union territory. The mission aims to provide basic facilities including safe housing, clean drinking water, education, health and nutrition access, road and telecom connectivity, household electrification, and sustainable livelihood opportunities through 11 interventions implemented by 9 line ministries.

As of June 30, 2026, significant progress has been achieved nationwide. Under the PMAY-G housing scheme, 482,554 houses have been sanctioned with 305,860 completed. Road construction under PMGSY shows 7,991.93 km sanctioned and 2,948 km completed. The Jal Jeevan Mission has sanctioned 18,756 villages with 8,799 saturated, while 831 Mobile Medical Units are operational. Nutrition efforts include 2,498 Anganwadi Centers sanctioned with 2,241 operational, and 500 hostels sanctioned with 19 completed.

Electrification progress under RDSS shows 146,291 households sanctioned and 135,209 electrified, while MNRE has sanctioned 8,852 households with 7,447 electrified. Telecom connectivity under DoT-USOF has planned 4,347 habitations for coverage with 3,198 covered. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has sanctioned 1,000 Multi-Purpose Centers with 692 completed, and 540 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras sanctioned with 491 businesses started.

Gujarat-specific implementation shows 13,641 houses sanctioned and 10,215 completed across 20 districts. Valsad district leads with 4,817 houses sanctioned and 3,895 completed, followed by Surendranagar with 2,874 sanctioned and 2,224 completed. Electrification in Gujarat shows 6,626 households sanctioned and fully electrified, with Tapi district having the highest at 1,972 households. Telecom coverage has sanctioned 51 habitations with 41 covered, while 39 Multi-Purpose Centers were sanctioned with 19 completed.

A mobile application-based habitation survey identified 30,597 PVTG habitations across 20,096 villages, covering 1,236,625 households and 4,852,361 population. Madhya Pradesh has the highest PVTG population at 1,385,266 across 5,182 villages, followed by Maharashtra with 674,918 across 2,883 villages. Gujarat has 601 villages with 1,009 habitations, serving 32,162 households and 153,524 PVTG population.

The actual number of beneficiaries is subject to eligibility criteria as per specific intervention guidelines, with the progress contributing to improved socio-economic conditions through enhanced basic amenities and livelihood opportunities for PVTG communities.
