PM-JUGA Tribal Development Scheme Progress Report
Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Shri Durgadas Uikey informed Rajya Sabha about the progress of Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan (PM-JUGA)/Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA), launched on 2nd October 2024. The scheme aims to saturate infrastructural gaps in 63,843 villages across 549 districts and 2,911 blocks in 30 States/UTs over 5 years, benefiting more than 5 crore tribal people through 25 interventions implemented by 17-line Ministries.
Physical Targets and Achievements
As of 1st July 2026, significant progress has been made across various ministries: Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned 13,02,811 houses under PMAY-G with 8,21,566 completed, and sanctioned 5008 Km roads in 14 states under PMGSY with 3.9 Km completed. Ministry of Jal Shakti has sanctioned 63,035 villages under Jal Jeevan Mission with 29,497 villages saturated. Ministry of Power has electrified 98,167 households and public institutions under RDSS scheme. Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has completed electrification in 4,099 households under PM Surya Ghar Yojana. Ministry of Health has operationalized 436 Mobile Medical Units, while Ministry of Women and Child Development has operationalized 681 of 875 sanctioned new Anganwadi Centers. Department of Telecommunications has covered 3,777 of 5,252 sanctioned villages under USOF.
Geographical Coverage
The scheme covers 63,843 villages across 30 States/UTs, with Madhya Pradesh having the highest coverage (11,377 villages), followed by Chhattisgarh (6,691), Jharkhand (7,139), Odisha (7,667), and Maharashtra (4,975). The program spans 549 districts and 2,911 blocks nationwide.
Financial Allocations
Total funds released during 2024-25 amounted to ₹47,768 lakhs, while 2025-26 saw ₹23,672.8 lakhs released. Mother sanctions generated on PFMS-SNA Sparsh totaled ₹65,357.795 lakhs during 2025-26 and ₹171,314.35 lakhs during 2026-27. Major allocations include Odisha receiving ₹17,422.8 lakhs in 2024-25, Maharashtra receiving ₹8,955.25 lakhs in 2025-26, and Madhya Pradesh generating mother sanctions of ₹30,865.9 lakhs in 2026-27.
