Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi attended the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the Independence of Seychelles as the Guest of Honour at the invitation of President H.E. Dr. Patrick Herminie. This visit marked the first time an Indian Prime Minister has attended Independence Day celebrations in Seychelles. The event coincided with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles.
As part of the celebrations, contingents of Indian armed forces participated in the national parade, comprising personnel from the Assam Rifles, the Indian Navy, and an Indian Navy Marching Band. Indian Naval Ships Tarkash and Ikshak docked at Port Victoria as part of the celebrations, following established tradition. The participation highlights the deep partnership and longstanding friendship between the two countries.
