Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for multiple development projects worth over ₹18,800 crore in Surat, Gujarat, focusing on road, power, and industrial sectors. The projects are designed to drive economic growth and improve 'Ease of Living' for citizens while adhering to the principle of 'progress in harmony with nature'.

Project Details and Infrastructure Development

The development initiative includes transformative projects across multiple sectors, with significant emphasis on modern connectivity infrastructure. Key projects mentioned include the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway section, Dedicated Freight Corridor, and the Bullet Train project. The government is specifically bringing four-lane highways to tribal belts of Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, and Tapi, reducing travel time and freight costs while improving access to education, healthcare, and tourism destinations like the Statue of Unity and Saputara.

Green Energy and Environmental Initiatives

Gujarat produces 50GW of India's total 250GW renewable energy capacity, representing one-fifth of the nation's renewable energy output. The state is positioned to lead in emerging sectors like Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia. Surat exemplifies environmental sustainability through its 'Circular Water Economy' that treats wastewater for industrial use, and the Hazira Industrial Area is transitioning to green steel production powered entirely by renewable energy. The Tapi Barrage Project has been approved to ensure future drinking water and drainage security for the region.

Industrial and Economic Development

The Hazira region is described as a comprehensive ecosystem encompassing energy, steel, defense production, and global maritime trade, serving as a testament to the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India) initiative. The Prime Minister emphasized that the energy capabilities built over the last twelve years, including investments in solar power, ethanol blending, railway electrification, nuclear energy, modernized electricity transmission networks, and expansion of gas pipelines and port storage capacities, have become critically important during the current global energy crisis.

Social Infrastructure and Healthcare

A modern ESIC hospital was inaugurated in Surat to provide better healthcare for workers and migrant families from other states. The development initiatives are connected to the electoral trust placed in the government, with the Prime Minister calling upon all elected representatives to work harder in fulfilling the vision of 'Viksit Gujarat' and 'Viksit Bharat' by developing every village, district, and city across the country.
