Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Surat and Daman on June 5, 2026, to inaugurate, dedicate to the nation, and lay foundation stones for development projects totaling approximately ₹21,800 crore across multiple infrastructure sectors.
In Surat, Gujarat, the Prime Minister will inaugurate projects worth approximately ₹18,800 crore across road, power, and industrial sectors. He will dedicate Packages VI and VII of the 8-lane access-controlled Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway to the nation, enhancing high-speed transportation and logistics efficiency between Gujarat and Maharashtra. The foundation stone will be laid for four-laning critical sections on NH-56 to improve connectivity across tribal regions and enhance access to the Statue of Unity. Healthcare infrastructure will be boosted with the inauguration of a 220-bed ESIC Hospital in Surat featuring modern secondary healthcare across key specialties, a central laboratory, ancillary services, and 24/7 emergency and trauma care for occupational injuries and medical emergencies.
Power infrastructure projects include the inauguration of Transmission Network Expansion in Gujarat to enhance power evacuation capacity under the Inter-State Transmission System. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate several Gujarat government initiatives including modern power distribution upgrades under the Revamped Reforms-Based Distribution Sector Scheme in Valsad, advanced effluent disposal and treatment infrastructure at Dahej Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemical Investment Region (PCPIR) and Sarigam Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), and essential layout utilities at the Jambusar Bulk Drug Park.
In Daman, projects worth approximately ₹2,970 crore span healthcare, civil aviation, tourism, infrastructure, connectivity, and public welfare sectors. The Prime Minister will inaugurate and dedicate projects worth approximately ₹1,340 crore, including the New Terminal Building of NAMO Airport designed to significantly enhance regional air connectivity and facilitate economic growth, and NAMO Hospital, a district hospital capable of catering to nearly 1,500 OPD patients daily to strengthen quality healthcare access.
Foundation stones will be laid for projects worth approximately ₹1,630 crore including the Iconic Bridge, Daman Convention Centre, and NIFT Campus at Daman, expected to strengthen modern infrastructure, boost tourism, promote investment, generate employment opportunities, and improve quality of life.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay foundation stones for four important projects worth approximately ₹885 crore for the Union Territory of Lakshadweep, focusing on port facility development on both eastern and western sides of Kalpeni Island and Kadmat Island. These multipurpose jetties will facilitate year-round berthing of large passenger vessels including cruise ships up to 300 meters in length, enabling safe and efficient passenger and cargo handling while providing integrated facilities for fish handling, fuel distribution, ice supply, and boat repair. These initiatives aim to strengthen maritime connectivity, support local fishermen livelihoods, promote tourism, and contribute to socio-economic development of the islands.
