Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab on 17th July 2026 to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects totaling approximately ₹25,000 crore. The visit includes three major stops with specific infrastructure initiatives.
In Jind, Haryana, the PM will flag off India's first hydrogen-powered train between Jind and Sonipat at 11 AM. This train represents a significant advancement in clean mobility, featuring 10 coaches with 3,200 HP propulsion system, making it among the world's longest and most powerful hydrogen trains. The hydrogen fuel cell technology produces zero carbon emissions with water vapor as the only byproduct, eliminating tailpipe emissions and reducing dependence on fossil fuels and overhead electrification infrastructure.
The PM will also dedicate National Highway projects worth over ₹12,470 crore in Haryana, including the 157.92 km four-lane fully access-controlled Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway (Packages 1 to 5) developed at ₹9,680 crore. This expressway reduces travel time between Delhi and Katra from 14 hours to 6 hours, and Delhi-Amritsar journey from 8 hours to 4 hours. Other highway projects include the 33.81 km Ambala-Kala Amb Highway (NH-7 and NH-344), the 40.60 km Jind-Gohana Greenfield Highway (NH-352A) reducing travel time from 2 hours to 40 minutes, and the foundation stone for 24.27 km Hansi-Barwala Brownfield Highway Project.
Additional projects in Jind include the dedication of Elevated Railway Track at Kurukshetra to eliminate traffic congestion, Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Government Medical College in Bhiwani, Maharishi Chyawan Medical College and Rao Tula Ram Hospital in Narnaul, and the foundation stone for a Sikh Museum in Kurukshetra showcasing Sikh heritage through modern technology.
In Chandigarh at 1:45 PM, the PM will inaugurate projects worth over ₹4,700 crore spanning healthcare, education, and road infrastructure. This includes the Advanced Mother and Child Centre (300 beds) and Advanced Neurosciences Centre at PGIMER, Chandigarh, providing comprehensive tertiary healthcare and specialized neurological services. The foundation stone will be laid for a 150-bed Critical Care Block under PM-ABHIM at PGIMER.
Educational infrastructure projects include inauguration of Kurukshetra Boys Hostel & Mess at Punjab Engineering College, Hostel Block in Government College Sector 46, and foundation stone of Research Scholars' Hostel at Punjab Engineering College. Road infrastructure includes inauguration of 6-lane Greenfield Highway from IT City to Kurali in Mohali and foundation stone for the 10.3 km PR-7 Spur of Ambala-Chandigarh Greenfield Highway (NH-205A).
In Jalandhar, Punjab, the PM will inaugurate rail and road projects worth over ₹5,470 crore. This includes 75 redeveloped Amrit Bharat railway stations across 20 states developed at ₹1,570 crore, including Jalandhar Cantt station. The Daulatpur Chowk-Kartoli new rail line (₹830 crore) as part of Nangal Dam-Talwara-Mukerian New Rail Line Project will strengthen connectivity between Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, serving religious destinations like Shri Anandpur Sahib and Maa Chintpurni Temple.
The PM will flag off Kartoli-Ambala train service and Amritsar (Chheharta)-Varanasi train service establishing direct rail link between spiritual centers. Road projects include inauguration of 30.9 km Package-6 of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway and foundation stone for 25.2 km six-lane greenfield Southern Ludhiana Bypass worth over ₹3,070 crore.
