Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on June 20, 2026, from Tarakeswar in Hooghly district, West Bengal. An amount exceeding ₹18,880 crore will be transferred directly to the accounts of over 9.44 crore eligible farmers nationwide, including more than 2.18 crore women farmers. With this disbursement, the total amount transferred under the scheme since its inception on February 24, 2019, will exceed ₹4.46 lakh crore.

For West Bengal specifically, an amount exceeding ₹907.21 crore will be transferred to over 45.35 lakh beneficiaries in this instalment, bringing the cumulative disbursement in the state to over ₹15,055 crore since the scheme's launch. The event will be celebrated as "PM-KISAN Utsav Diwas" with special awareness events organized at state, district/block, and gram panchayat levels with support from KVKs and local agriculture offices. More than 1 crore farmers are expected to connect to the main event via video conferencing at various agricultural institutions and facilities.

During the event, the Prime Minister will launch four major agricultural schemes in West Bengal. The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)/Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS) will be extended to West Bengal farmers, aiming to provide insurance coverage to nearly 1.10 crore farmers across about 30 lakh hectares of agricultural land during 2026-27. The initiative will protect crops with an estimated insured value of ₹28,140 crore, with central and state governments providing premium subsidies of approximately ₹777 crore to keep farmers' premium burden low.

The Digital Agriculture Mission with an outlay of ₹2,817 crore will launch AgriStack in West Bengal, creating a unified digital platform for verified agriculture-related services including fertilizer distribution, Kisan Credit Cards, Direct Benefit Transfers, and MSP procurement. The National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) will be launched to promote chemical-free sustainable agriculture, with plans to establish 346 natural farming clusters covering 17,300 hectares, benefiting 43,250 farmers in 2026-27 through bio-input resource centres and Krishi Sakhis mobilization.

Additionally, the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PMDDKY) will be implemented in four West Bengal districts—Purulia, Darjeeling, Alipurduar, and Jhargram—focusing on improving agricultural productivity, crop diversification, sustainable farming practices, post-harvest infrastructure strengthening, irrigation facilities enhancement, and better access to institutional credit through convergence of multiple Central and State schemes.
