Prime Minister Narendra Modi is embarking on an official visit to Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic from 29 August to 1 September 2026. The visit begins with a state visit to Tashkent, Uzbekistan on 29-30 August at the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, where discussions will focus on deepening cooperation in trade and investment, digital connectivity, defence, and energy sectors. The PM will also visit cultural sites including the Shastri Memorial and Mahatma Gandhi Centre at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
From Tashkent, the PM will travel to Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic to participate in the 26th SCO Summit, marking 25 years of the organization. India has been an active member since 2017 and aims to advance its regional vision anchored in Security, Connectivity and Opportunity. The PM will work with fellow members to address terrorism, separatism and extremism threats in the region.
The itinerary includes meetings with President Sadyr Zhaparov and other SCO leaders, plus attendance at the Opening Ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games. The visit is expected to strengthen India's strategic partnerships in Central Asia and deepen civilizational connections while advancing shared values of peace, stability and prosperity.
