The Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises has invited 100 beneficiaries of the PM Vishwakarma scheme from the Delhi-NCR region as 'Special Guests' to witness the 80th Independence Day ceremony at Red Fort, Delhi on August 15, 2026. Each beneficiary will attend the national celebration along with their spouse or companion.
The group includes women artisans from various traditional trades, reflecting the scheme's contribution toward women's economic empowerment, greater participation in livelihoods, and strengthening the role of women in preserving India's rich artisanal and cultural heritage. On August 14, 2026, these beneficiaries will be presented with souvenirs as a token of recognition and appreciation, followed by an interaction with officials of the Ministry of MSME at the Indian Institute of Public Administration in Delhi.
The PM Vishwakarma scheme is a flagship government initiative providing comprehensive support to artisans and craftspeople engaged in traditional trades through skill upgradation, modern tools, financial support, digital enablement, and market linkages. The scheme has registered 30 lakh traditional artisans and craftspeople to date. The invited beneficiaries represent all 18 traditional trades covered under the scheme, including Tailor, Carpenter, Goldsmith, Blacksmith, and Locksmith, and have availed various benefits such as registration, Basic Skill Training, and provision of toolkits.
