PM Vishwakarma Scheme Third Anniversary Achievements
The Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises is celebrating the third anniversary of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme on 17th September 2026 at Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium, Kolkata. The event will be attended by Union Minister Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Shri Suvendu Adhikari, Minister of State Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, and state ministers Shri Dipak Barman and Shri Ashok Dinda. Senior officials from MSME Ministry, Development Commissioner (MSME) office, KVIC, NSIC, SLBC, and India Post will participate alongside beneficiaries, Gram Panchayat/ULB representatives, CSCs/VLEs, and other stakeholders.
The Scheme has achieved significant milestones in three years, registering 30 lakh beneficiaries after completion of the prescribed three-stage verification process, thereby meeting its registration target. Approximately 24.50 lakh Vishwakarmas have received Basic Skill Training from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Under the credit component, 6.18 lakh artisans have been provided loan support of up to ₹1 lakh each at a concessional interest rate of 5% per annum, totaling ₹5,297 crore in disbursements. Additionally, 18.15 lakh modern toolkits have been delivered to artisans through India Post to enhance work quality and productivity.
West Bengal recently joined the Scheme in May 2026 and has already registered 3,000 beneficiaries who are currently receiving skill training. The anniversary event will feature distribution of PM Vishwakarma certificates, Basic Skill Training certificates, loan certificates, and toolkits to beneficiaries. An exhibition showcasing products of local artisans and craftspeople will provide market linkage opportunities, highlighting the Scheme's impact on preserving traditional skills while providing institutional support, modern tools, access to finance, skill upgradation, and market linkages across 18 identified trades.
