The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment published a success story highlighting the impact of the PM YASASVI Scholarship program on Prince Yadav, a 19-year-old OBC category student pursuing B.Tech education at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal. Coming from an agricultural family with limited income, Prince faced significant financial difficulties covering tuition and living expenses in Bhopal until he received financial assistance of ₹1,15,400 under the PM YASASVI Scholarship in 2025-26.
The scholarship support specifically covered his tuition and hostel-related expenses, significantly reducing the financial burden on his family and eliminating the need for an educational loan. This assistance has enabled Prince to focus entirely on his academic pursuits, maintain a good CGPA, and actively participate in technical clubs on campus. The student described the scholarship as a "turning point" in his academic journey that allowed him to concentrate on studies rather than financial worries.
The case study demonstrates how the PM YASASVI program provides meaningful support to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly those from Other Backward Class categories, enabling them to pursue higher education without financial constraints. The program supports India's broader goals of educational accessibility and technological self-reliance by helping students from agricultural backgrounds enter engineering fields.
