Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Tokhan Sahu visited the Housing for All (HFA) Division at Sankalp Bhawan, New Delhi to review the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban (PMAY-U) mission. During the visit, he interacted with officials and reviewed the digital monitoring dashboard that provides real-time tracking of the mission's implementation.
The Ministry has achieved significant milestones under PMAY-U and PMAY-U 2.0, with over 127 lakh houses sanctioned nationwide, including more than 16 lakh houses specifically under PMAY-U 2.0. Of these sanctioned units, over 121 lakh houses have been grounded, more than 99 lakh houses have been completed, and over 96 lakh families have already been housed across urban areas of the country.
The mission demonstrates strong social inclusion outcomes, with more than 21 lakh beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Castes, over 5 lakh to Scheduled Tribes, and nearly 50 lakh to Other Backward Classes. Additionally, more than 22 lakh beneficiaries are from minority communities, and over one crore houses have been sanctioned in the name of women or under joint ownership with male family members, supporting women's empowerment and financial security.
Minister Sahu commended the HFA Division's use of technology and data-driven governance for improving transparency and accountability in mission implementation. He emphasized that PMAY-U 2.0 continues to play a pivotal role in providing affordable housing to eligible urban families while advancing the government's commitment to inclusive urban development and the vision of Viksit Bharat.
