The Ministry of Food Processing Industries provided an update on the progress of Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY) as of June 30, 2026, in a written reply to Lok Sabha by Minister of State Shri Ravneet Singh.
Under the Central Sector umbrella scheme, 1,735 projects have been approved across various component schemes, with 1,256 projects completed to date. These completed projects have created 294.21 Lakh Metric Tonnes per annum of processing and preservation capacity and generated 9.16 lakh employment opportunities across the country. The scheme has benefited approximately 37.76 lakh farmers through enhanced infrastructure and value addition facilities.
PMKSY operates as a demand-driven scheme where applications are invited through Expression of Interest (EoI) from across the country, with no state-wise allocation of funds. Proposals are scrutinized for eligibility and evaluated based on fixed criteria under scheme guidelines, with merit-based approvals given to eligible proposals based on fund availability. The ministry confirmed that no projects have been sanctioned under PMKSY in Bharatpur Parliamentary Constituency as of the reporting date.
The component schemes provide financial assistance in the form of grants-in-aid/subsidy for creating modern food processing and preservation infrastructure, aiming to reduce post-harvest losses and enhance value addition. The scheme offers enhanced financial assistance to Farmers Producing Organisations (FPOs) with relaxed eligibility conditions including lower equity contribution, reduced minimum bank loan requirement, and lower net-worth requirement compared to general category applicants. Under the PMFME scheme, FPOs are eligible for 35% credit-linked subsidy up to ₹10 lakh for setting up or upgrading micro food processing enterprises, 35% grant up to ₹3 crore for establishing Common Infrastructure, and 50% grant for Branding & Marketing support at State/regional level for groups of FPOs.
The scheme has strengthened the food processing ecosystem, promoted value addition, and contributed to overall exports of food products and growth of the food processing sector.
