President of India Droupadi Murmu presented Lalit Kala Akademi awards to selected artists of the 65th National Exhibition of Art and felicitated Grand Prize winners and Honourable Mentions of the 3rd Print Biennale India, 2026, at a ceremony in New Delhi on October 21, 2026. The President described the event as a celebration of India's artistic heritage, cultural diversity, and contemporary creativity, highlighting the rich tradition of India's diverse arts and ever-evolving artistic expressions. She emphasized that art reflects culture, memories, present experiences, and future aspirations, enabling society to perceive times from fresh perspectives. The President stressed the need to equip traditional artists in remote areas with training in new technologies and contemporary art techniques to showcase their skills on wider platforms. She noted that artists require financial support, market access, and connections with art collectors, acknowledging efforts by Lalit Kala Akademi and the Ministry of Culture to encourage artwork sales. The President urged that art should reach schools, universities, public spaces, and broader society rather than being confined to galleries, calling for ample opportunities for young and emerging artists to develop talent, explore new mediums, and expand creative potential.
