Defence Minister Rajnath Singh participated in a tree plantation ceremony at Lucknow Cantonment, Uttar Pradesh, on June 05, 2026, to commemorate World Environment Day. The event was designed to promote environmental conservation, increase green cover, and raise public awareness about climate change. In a social media post, Singh emphasized that a healthy environment forms the foundation of sustainable development, national well-being, and prosperity for future generations, while calling for collective action to build a greener, cleaner, and more resilient future.

The program was jointly organized by the Principal Directorate of Defence Estates (Central Command) and the Cantonment Board, Lucknow. Attendees included Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Principal Director of Defence Estates (Central Command), General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Central Command Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, and other senior civil and military officials from Central Command.
