In Saitual district, the meeting attended by District Collector Shriniwas Sadi, Superintendent of Police Vivek Kumar Maurya, and senior officials addressed substance-abuse prevention through the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, emphasizing stronger coordination among youth groups, community organizations, and law-enforcement agencies. The district's agriculture and horticulture potential was reviewed with focus on improving market access and supply linkages for Mizoram's organic produce. Local sports federations highlighted infrastructure requirements, with the Minister emphasizing the need for regular coaching and structured training alongside the Khelo India Scheme to develop grassroots sports.
In Kolasib district, the meeting attended by District Collector H. Dolianbuaia and Superintendent of Police Lalrinpuia Varte focused on road connectivity as a key infrastructure priority to improve market access and economic opportunities. Healthcare infrastructure review covered the district's Community Health Centre, five Primary Health Centres, and nursing school, with emphasis on optimal utilization. Agriculture received detailed attention, noting that Kolasib has more than 10,000 active farmers, while the Krishi Vigyan Kendra provides technical guidance to over 5,000 growers and facilitates inter-state internships and visiting faculty programmes. The cooperative sector includes 102 functioning cooperatives, largely agriculture-oriented.
The Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) implementation was reviewed, with discussions focused on resolving portal-access issues that affected sanctions during 2025-26 and expediting support for 25 identified local enterprises including furniture workshops, grocery stores, and mineral-water units. Public Distribution System and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana implementation required addressing beneficiary-data gaps to ensure accurate records for eligible households.
Sports development in Kolasib identified football, hockey, and wrestling as prominent disciplines, with athletes participating in national-level football leagues and the district having produced a national-level hockey player. The need for a dedicated training center was discussed to provide structured coaching. Sports infrastructure under the VB-GRAM-G initiative includes football and volleyball grounds, with suggestions to develop facilities across all 51 villages in the district.
Youth mobilization through the MY Bharat platform showed approximately 9,000 youth registered in Kolasib, with calls for greater volunteer mobilization for awareness activities and stronger coordination with the Police Department for substance-abuse prevention. The Minister emphasized channelizing youth energy toward sports, education, community service, and constructive social engagement through awareness activities in educational institutions and positive peer influence.
The reviews concluded with emphasis on stronger coordination among district administrations, police authorities, youth institutions, sports bodies, agricultural institutions, cooperatives, and community organizations to advance inclusive development and create opportunities for the people of both districts.
