The Government of India announced a re‑issue of government securities totaling ₹28,000 crore, to be conducted through an underwriting auction on 21 August 2026 (Friday). Two issues are offered: a 7.06 % Government Security maturing in 2041 with a notified amount of ₹17,000 crore, and a 7.43 % Government Security maturing in 2076 with a notified amount of ₹11,000 crore. Under the underwriting scheme notified on 14 November 2007, each primary dealer (PD) must meet a Minimum Underwriting Commitment (MUC) of ₹405 crore for the 7.06 % issue and ₹262 crore for the 7.43 % issue, which also constitute the minimum bidding commitment under the Additional Competitive Underwriting (ACU) auction. Bids for the ACU auction must be submitted electronically via the RBI’s Core Banking Solution (e‑Kuber) between 09:00 A.M. and 09:30 A.M. on the auction day. The auction will be conducted using a multiple price‑based method. The underwriting commission earned by each PD will be credited to its current account with the RBI on the date the securities are issued.
The RBI’s announcement outlines the procedural and financial parameters of the underwriting auction, ensuring transparent allocation of the ₹28,000 crore government borrowing.
