Reference number: Press Release 2026-2027/1465
Policy rates and liquidity
The Reserve Bank of India has decided, after reviewing current and evolving near‑term liquidity conditions, to conduct a Variable Rate Repo (VRR) auction on Monday, 9 November 2026, under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility. The auction will make available a notified amount of ₹50,000 crore for a tenor of four days. Bidding will be accepted between 9:30 am and 10:00 am on the auction day. The repo transaction is scheduled to be reversed on Friday, 13 November 2026.
Regulatory and policy measures
The operational guidelines governing this VRR auction will be identical to those outlined in the Reserve Bank's Press Release 2021-2022/1572 dated 20 January 2022. The announcement is issued by Deputy General Manager Ajit Prasad, Communications, of the RBI.
The RBI’s use of a sizable ₹50,000‑crore VRR auction reflects its ongoing effort to fine‑tune short‑term liquidity in the banking system while adhering to established procedural frameworks.
