The Reserve Bank of India has launched the July 2026 round of its Inflation Expectations Survey of Households (IESH). The survey seeks both qualitative assessments of price movements and quantitative estimates of current, three‑month‑ahead and one‑year‑ahead inflation rates. It covers 19 cities – Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi and Thiruvananthapuram – and captures expectations based on individual consumption baskets. M/s Hansa Research Group Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai has been engaged to conduct the fieldwork; selected households will be approached by the agency, while any other individual may submit responses via the online survey link provided by the RBI. Responses are to be emailed to the address of the Director, Division of Household Surveys, Department of Statistics and Information Management, RBI, Bandra‑Kurla Complex, Mumbai, or submitted through the online schedule. The survey results are intended to provide useful inputs for the formulation of monetary policy.
The launch underscores the RBI’s continued emphasis on gathering forward‑looking inflation expectations from households to enhance the data foundation for policy decisions.
