Policy Rates and Liquidity

The RBI disclosed that the overnight segment (including Call Money, Triparty Repo, Market Repo and Repo in Corporate Bond) recorded zero volume and no weighted average rate on October 4, 2026. In the term segment, Notice Money and Term Money also showed zero activity. The Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) operation on 04/10/2026 injected ₹478.00 crore with a rate of 5.50% and maturity on 05/10/2026. The Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) on the same date absorbed ₹2,03,605.00 crore at a rate of 5.00% with maturity on 05/10/2026. Net liquidity injected from today’s operations was –₹2,03,127.00 crore, indicating overall absorption.

Outstanding operations included a reverse repo of ₹1,68,055.00 crore at 5.24% (tenor 4 days, auction dated 01/10/2026, maturity 05/10/2026) and another reverse repo of ₹36,949.00 crore at 5.24% (tenor 26 days, auction dated 11/09/2026, maturity 07/10/2026). MSF outstanding amounts were ₹1,06,176.00 crore at 5.24% (tenor 30 days) and ₹1,000.00 crore at 5.50% (tenor 2 days), both maturing on 07/10/2026 and 05/10/2026 respectively. Additional MSF entries for 02/10/2026 and 01/10/2026 showed zero amounts. SDF outstanding comprised ₹5,327.00 crore at 5.00% (tenor 2 days) and ₹1,138.00 crore at 5.00% (tenor 4 days), both maturing on 05/10/2026. Net liquidity injected from outstanding operations was –₹3,12,531.82 crore, leading to a cumulative net liquidity injection (including today’s operations) of –₹5,15,658.82 crore.

Banking and Credit

The cash reserves position of scheduled commercial banks as on October 04, 2026 showed cash balances with the RBI of ₹8,52,282.43 crore. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending October 15, 2026 was ₹8,17,219.00 crore.

Financial Stability and Inclusion

The Government of India’s surplus cash balance reckoned for auction was zero as on October 01, 2026, while a net durable liquidity surplus of ₹13,93,819.00 crore was recorded as on September 15, 2026. The Standing Liquidity Facility (SLF) availed from RBI amounted to ₹4,113.18 crore.

Overall, the RBI’s money market operations on October 4, 2026 reflected a complete lack of activity in both overnight and term segments, substantial liquidity absorption through SDF, and a net withdrawal of over ₹5 trillion rupees when accounting for both today’s and outstanding operations, while cash reserves of scheduled banks remained robust.
