Policy Rates and Liquidity

The RBI conducted a reverse repo operation on 10 September 2026 for a tenor of one day, maturing on 11 September 2026, with an amount of ₹3,96,694.00 crore at a rate of 5.24 per cent. On the same day the Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) was utilised for ₹82.00 crore at 5.50 per cent, and the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) was availed for ₹2,56,504.00 crore at 5.00 per cent. The net liquidity effect of today’s operations was an absorption of ₹6,53,116.00 crore.

Outstanding reverse repo operations include a 15‑day tenor dated 31 August 2026 (maturing 15 September 2026) for ₹1,34,625.00 crore and a 30‑day tenor dated 7 September 2026 (maturing 7 October 2026) for ₹2,59,276.00 crore, both at 5.24 per cent. The Standing Liquidity Facility (SLF) availed from the RBI stands at ₹3,584.11 crore. Net liquidity injected from outstanding operations amounts to an absorption of ₹3,90,316.89 crore, leading to a cumulative net liquidity absorption of ₹10,43,432.89 crore when today’s operations are included.

Banking and Credit

Cash balances of scheduled commercial banks with the RBI as on 10 September 2026 were ₹7,86,856.05 crore. The average daily cash reserve requirement (CRR) for the fortnight ending 15 September 2026 was ₹8,10,284.00 crore, indicating the level of statutory liquidity held by banks.

Capital Markets and Flows

In the overnight money‑market segment (comprising Call Money, Triparty Repo, Market Repo and Repo in Corporate Bonds) the total one‑leg volume was ₹6,76,850.95 crore with a weighted average rate of 4.60 per cent and a rate range of 1.00‑5.20 per cent.

  • Call Money: ₹10,335.01 crore at 4.98 per cent (range 4.40‑5.10).
  • Triparty Repo: ₹4,86,883.05 crore at 4.65 per cent (range 4.45‑5.00).
  • Market Repo: ₹1,73,218.94 crore at 4.44 per cent (range 1.00‑5.20).
  • Repo in Corporate Bonds: ₹6,413.95 crore at 4.90 per cent (range 4.80‑5.00).

In the term segment, volumes and rates were as follows:

  • Notice Money: ₹1,043.53 crore with a weighted average rate of 4.99 per cent (range 4.60‑5.05).
  • Term Money: ₹579.00 crore (rate not applicable) with a range of 5.20‑5.85 per cent.
  • Triparty Repo: ₹3,028.50 crore at 4.73 per cent (range 4.35‑5.15).
  • Market Repo: ₹930.46 crore at 5.19 per cent (range 5.00‑5.42).
  • Repo in Corporate Bonds: nil.

The Government of India’s surplus cash balance reckoned for auction stood at ₹8,05,736.00 crore as on 10 September 2026 (and also as on 15 August 2026).

Overall, the RBI’s money‑market operations on 10 September 2026 reflected a substantial net liquidity absorption, with key policy rates anchored in the mid‑5 per cent range and significant volumes transacted across both overnight and term segments, supporting the management of short‑term liquidity in the financial system.
