Policy Rates and Liquidity
The overnight segment (I+II+III+IV) recorded a total volume of ₹6,47,255.99 crore with a weighted average rate of 5.00% and a rate range of 1.00‑5.51%. Within this segment, Call Money volume was ₹11,328.97 crore at an average rate of 5.11% (range 4.60‑5.25%). Triparty Repo volume stood at ₹4,57,896.55 crore with an average rate of 4.97% (range 4.50‑5.07%). Market Repo volume was ₹1,70,597.37 crore, average rate 5.05% (range 1.00‑5.51%). Repo in Corporate Bond volume was ₹7,433.10 crore at an average rate of 5.32% (range 5.28‑5.41%).
In the term segment, Notice Money had a weighted average volume of ₹243.70 crore, rate 5.01% (range 4.85‑5.15%). Term Money volume was ₹444.50 crore with a rate range of 5.50‑5.81%. Triparty Repo volume was ₹1,451.00 crore, average rate 5.05% (range 5.00‑5.25%). Market Repo weighted average volume was ₹497.40 crore, average rate 5.24% (range 4.95‑5.35%). Repo in Corporate Bond for the term segment recorded zero volume.
Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF), Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) and Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) operations on 18‑19 August showed: Reverse Repo of ₹82,788.00 crore at 5.24% and another of ₹36,595.00 crore at 5.24% (both 1‑day tenor). MSF operation of ₹57.00 crore at 5.50% (1‑day). SDF operation of ₹1,82,609.00 crore at 5.00% (1‑day). Net liquidity injected from today’s operations was –₹3,01,935.00 crore (injection negative indicating absorption).
Outstanding operations included a 7‑day reverse repo of ₹98,945.00 crore at 5.24% (dated 17‑24 August). Net liquidity injected from outstanding operations was –₹89,034.34 crore. Combining today’s and outstanding operations, total net liquidity injected amounted to –₹3,90,969.34 crore.
Banking and Credit
Cash reserves of scheduled commercial banks as on 18 August 2026 were ₹8,23,883.49 crore. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending 31 August 2026 was ₹8,17,404.00 crore.
Capital Markets and Flows
The Government of India’s surplus cash balance reckoned for auction as on 18 August 2026 (and also as on 31 July 2026) was ₹6,79,145.00 crore, representing net durable liquidity surplus.
Overall, the RBI’s money market operations on 18‑19 August 2026 indicate a substantial liquidity absorption of approximately ₹3.9 lakh crore, with overnight market activity dominated by repo transactions at rates around 5%, while banks maintain high cash reserves and the government’s surplus cash adds to the overall liquidity posture.
