Policy Rates and Liquidity

The RBI conducted a repo operation of 4,17,609.00 crore rupees at a rate of 5.24% on 08 September 2026, maturing on 09 September 2026. The Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) was utilised for 37.00 crore rupees at 5.50% for the same tenor. The Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) absorbed 2,42,338.00 crore rupees at a rate of 5.00% over the same period. Net liquidity injected from today’s operations amounted to a withdrawal of 6,59,910.00 crore rupees (negative injection).

Money Market Activity

The overnight segment (comprising segments I to IV) recorded a volume‑weighted average amount of 6,83,354.04 crore rupees with an average rate of 4.53% and a total amount of 9,896.91 crore rupees at an average rate of 4.98%. Segment‑wise details: Call Money (4,85,700.60 crore at 4.58%), Triparty Repo (1,81,433.83 crore at 4.36%), Market Repo (amount not separately listed), and Repo in Corporate Bonds (6,322.70 crore at 4.93%). In the term segment, Notice Money stood at 197.00 crore rupees at 4.88% (rate range 4.50‑5.05%), Term Money at 596.00 crore rupees (rate range 5.20‑5.75%), Triparty Repo at 1,115.00 crore rupees with a rate of 4.66% (range 4.60‑4.75%), Market Repo at 1,568.94 crore rupees at 5.25% (range 4.90‑5.44%), and Repo in Corporate Bonds at 1,083.00 crore rupees at 6.75% (range 5.75‑6.80%).

Banking and Credit

Cash reserves of scheduled commercial banks as of 08 September 2026 were 8,02,660.25 crore rupees. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending 15 September 2026 was projected at 8,10,284.00 crore rupees. The Government of India’s surplus cash balance for auction purposes was nil on the same date. Net durable liquidity, representing surplus (+) or deficit (‑), was recorded at 8,05,736.00 crore rupees as of 15 August 2026.

Financial Stability

Outstanding liquidity operations include a reverse repo of 1,34,625.00 crore rupees at 5.24% (maturing 15 September 2026) and another reverse repo of 2,59,276.00 crore rupees at 5.24% (maturing 07 October 2026). The Standing Liquidity Facility (SLF) availed from RBI amounted to 4,906.06 crore rupees. Net liquidity injected from outstanding operations (including today’s) summed to a withdrawal of 10,48,904.94 crore rupees.

Regulatory and Policy Measures

The operations were conducted under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF), Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) and Standing Deposit Facility (SDF).
