Policy Rates and Liquidity
The overnight segment recorded a total volume of ₹7,44,523.52 crore with a weighted average rate of 5.05% and a rate range of 3.00‑5.35%. Within this segment, Call Money accounted for ₹19,256.60 crore at 5.08% (range 4.00‑5.25%), Triparty Repo for ₹5,37,487.20 crore at 5.05% (range 4.95‑5.35%), Market Repo for ₹1,78,252.42 crore at 5.05% (range 3.00‑5.32%), and Repo in Corporate Bond for ₹9,527.30 crore at 5.21% (range 5.15‑5.35%).
The term segment showed Notice Money of ₹295.70 crore at 5.13% (range 4.65‑5.27%), Term Money of ₹235.00 crore (rate not disclosed, range 5.80‑6.15%), Triparty Repo of ₹5,858.00 crore at 5.24% (range 5.00‑5.50%), Market Repo of ₹1,207.33 crore at 5.49% (range 5.15‑5.55%), and no activity in Repo in Corporate Bond.
On 29 September 2026, the RBI conducted a reverse‑repo operation of ₹1,19,048.00 crore for a one‑day tenor at a rate of 5.24%. The Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) was accessed twice on the same day, providing ₹33,770.00 crore at 5.24% and ₹5,880.00 crore at 5.50% respectively. The Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) was utilised for ₹1,80,469.00 crore at 5.00%.
Net liquidity injected from today’s operations was a negative ₹3,27,407.00 crore, indicating absorption.
Outstanding operations include a reverse‑repo of ₹36,949.00 crore (tenor 26 days, rate 5.24%) and MSF utilisation of ₹1,06,176.00 crore (tenor 30 days, rate 5.24%). Net liquidity injected from outstanding operations was a negative ₹1,38,997.34 crore. Combining today’s and outstanding figures, total net liquidity injection amounted to a negative ₹4,66,404.34 crore.
The Standing Liquidity Facility (SLF) was availed for ₹4,127.66 crore.
Banking and Credit
Cash reserves of scheduled commercial banks as on 29 September 2026 stood at ₹8,05,011.55 crore. The average daily cash reserve requirement for the fortnight ending 30 September 2026 was ₹8,21,989.00 crore.
Capital Markets and Flows
The money‑market volumes detailed above reflect active participation across overnight and term segments, with weighted average rates ranging between 3.00% and 6.15% depending on the instrument. The high volume in Triparty Repo (₹5,37,487.20 crore) underscores its prominence in short‑term funding.
Government Liquidity Position
The Government of India reported a surplus cash balance of ₹0.00 crore for the auction on 29 September 2026. Net durable liquidity showed a surplus of ₹10,66,303.00 crore as on 31 August 2026.
Overall, the RBI’s operations on 29 September 2026 resulted in a substantial net liquidity absorption of over ₹4.66 lakh crore when combined with outstanding positions, while maintaining active money‑market trading and adequate cash reserves in the banking system.
